From Nell Gwynn to Vivian Ward, the Julia Roberts character in the film Pretty Woman, the figure of the prostitutes has seduced or pitiful the audience along the history.
So, Why one of the oldest profession is still such interesting in fashion, art and films ?
On September 22nd 2015, at the Musee d'Orsay in Paris I show one of the most interesting exhibition about this subject: "Splendour and Misery", a fascinated collection of important french and foreign artists, who were atracted and involved in prostitution in the most different ways and artistic techniques.
So, let me show you one of my favourites paintings, collections, films pictures, which were represented the woman as an object of seduction and the fashion as well.

If we compare american models from the 70's to the present, there were a huge difference.
In the 60's/70's the 70% of the female models were causcasian, like Lisa Taylor, Jerry Hall, Patti Hansen, etc. For decades, All american models described it as the "California Look". Models who had it were tanned, blonde, blue-eyes, "healthy and strong" and nordic features.
Over the past 50 years, the US population has become increasingly diverse.
More race or hair colour, defines the "the All-American" model today, like Black, Hispanic, Native American, Asian and Caucasiann girls.

In the 70's she left Texas to become a model and was discovering on a Saint Tropez beach by a Fashion Agent.
Her Trademark: Long blonde hair and height of six feet. She was one of the most visible and photographed models in the industry during that period.
Marisa Berenson
This American model was granddaughter of the italian fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli.
' I once was one of the highest paid models in the world", she told The New York Times.
Pat Cleveland
This New Yorker model was discovering in the subway by Vogue editor Carrie Donovan while in route to classes in 1967.
I love Stella for her unconventional look and attitude. This model from the Scottish nobility (her mother is Lady Emma Cavendish and grandmother the Duchess of Devonshire) started to modelling in the 90's.
In that time she was photographed by several artist like Steven Meisel or Mario Testino and soon was photographed as the face of Versace.
She achieved success as the face of Chanel, Givenchy, Versus, Burberry and appeared on magazines such as Italian Vogue, W, L’Officiel, Harper's Bazaar, British Vogue, and so on.
She continues to live in Scotland with her family.
